As the year comes to a close (seriously, where did the last six months go?), it’s a perfect time to reflect on what we’ve achieved and learned along the way.
Personal Achievements
This year felt like two distinct halves for me. The first half was filled with celebrations, exciting trips and self-learning.
I turned 40 and shared milestone birthdays with some of my closest friends. I also ran my first 10km in under an hour, thanks to a public declaration for accountability and my brother’s support. (For transparency—I haven’t run 10km since!)
I also got nostalgic at Pearl Jam, which made me realise I hadn’t been to a concert in years—something I definitely want to change moving forward.
The second half of the year flew in the blink of an eye. The economic climate got harder for my clients and for us, and there was a lot of business learnings.
What We Achieved as a Team:
International Focus
Graduated from the Art & Practice of Leadership Development program at Harvard Kennedy School. I met incredible leaders from 19 countries and am now integrating Adaptive Leadership into my client work.
Facilitated a two-day Asia Strategy session with 18 leaders across 15 countries in Singapore.
Attended my first Thought Leaders Business School retreat in Queenstown to focus on business growth and development for 2024.
Reconnected with friends overseas in New Zealand, the USA, and Singapore. It reminded me how small the world is and how valuable these connections can be. I also made new connections through Harvard and the retreat, and I now check in with them regularly.
Online Offerings
Launched the Thriving Leaders Podcast, with this season wrapping up in early 2025. I’d love your feedback—thank you to those who’ve shared how the content has supported their focus areas.
Rolled out Thriving Academy, our online learning platform, as part of the Thriving Leaders Program. It offers on-demand training that fits participants’ schedules alongside live group coaching. This has been a fantastic tool to sustain and embed learning within leadership development programs. (Our next program kicks off in February—reach out if you or a team member would like to join!)
Client Delivery
This year, we partnered with clients old and new across industries, including Government, Utilities, Mining, Not-for-Profit, Professional Services, Logistics, Insurance, Finance, Technology, Education/Early Learning, Health, and eCommerce.
A huge thank you to all my wonderful clients—it's been a big year, and I’ve loved every moment of working with you.
What We Delivered in 2024:
64 coaching sessions
41 leadership development sessions
20 thriving team sessions
17 podcast episodes
7 conferences facilitated
5 keynote speaking engagements
4 strategy sessions
44 newsletters
40 flights (down from last year—hooray for more virtual delivery!).
To the incredible team at Thriving Culture—Sam, Jo, and Ben—I appreciate everything you’ve done this year. I can’t wait to see what we achieve together in 2025.
My Reflections and Learnings
My Biggest Learnings
I’m proud of pushing myself out of my comfort zone with the sessions I delivered. I’ve learned that keeping things simple is always best. Focusing on what gives me energy and aligns with my strengths has been game-changing.
I also learned that less is more. Focusing on a few key priorities and doing them exceptionally well pays off.
That said, I also failed—often. I bit off more than I could chew, and some things took longer than expected. For example, we launched Thriving Academy three months late, switched platforms post-launch, and then switched back. It wasn’t all smooth sailing.
Goals for 2025:
In the year ahead, I want to slow down, focus on fewer priorities, and deliver them exceptionally well. My number one focus will be writing my next book, Thriving Teams.
I also want to move more. Even though Strava tells me I’m in the top 11% of users, I sit at my desk for hours after my morning exercise. In 2025, I’ll prioritise movement throughout the day, more self-care, and being present.
Your Reflections
Take a moment to reflect on your own achievements this year. Ask yourself:
What have I achieved over the past year?
What am I most proud of?
What have I learned about myself?
Thanks for all the support this year. The emails people have sent back in response to our newsletter. I really appreciate it.
We will be taking the next few weeks off to relax, recharge and spend time with family. Looking forward to all that next year holds!
